Working principle

Torque rheology test of ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) is a method of determining the mechanical properties of the polymer system by measuring the torque and rotational speed of the polymer sample. This technique is used to measure the viscosity and flexibility of UHMWPE materials by assessing the torque required for different rotational speeds. Specifically, the rheometer measures torque as a parameter of the shear stress on a sample and the rotational speed as a parameter of the shear rate. This helps to determine the non-Newtonian behavior of the material. During the experiment, the temperature of the sample and the environment can be regulated as desired using a temperature-controlled chamber and thermal conductivity/control coils or a heated stage. The experimental data obtained through the torque rheology test is usually analyzed using rheological methods such as G’( Storage Modulus) and G’’ (Loss Modulus) in order to study the viscoelastic behavior of the UHMWPE samples.
